Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your driver and guide arrive at your Agra hotel around 30 minutes before sunrise (timing shared the evening before, since sunrise shifts with the season). A short, quiet drive brings you to the East or West Gate as the sky just begins to lighten.
Sunrise at the Taj Mahal (approx. 2.5 hours): Enter as the gates open- this is the quietest the Taj ever gets, before the tour buses arrive. Watch the marble shift from soft pink to blinding white as the sun clears the horizon. Your guide walks you through the history, architecture, and legends of the monument, and helps you find the best angles for photos, including the classic "Diana bench" spot and the reflecting pools.
Free Time: Time built in to wander at your own pace, sit by the fountains, or simply take it in before the heat and crowds build.
Return to Hotel: Your driver takes you straight back to your hotel, tour concluded by mid-morning- leaving your full day free for the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, or just resting up.
Good to know: The Taj Mahal is closed to visitors every Friday, so this tour doesn't run that day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about this tour — reach out if you need more.
There's no single fixed time- the Taj Mahal's sunrise shifts through the year, from as early as 5:00 AM in summer to closer to 7:00 AM in winter. We check the exact sunrise time for your travel date and confirm your pickup time with you the evening before, so you know exactly when to be ready. As a rule of thumb, pickup is scheduled about 30–45 minutes before sunrise, giving you time to reach the gate as it opens.
Yes, entrance tickets aren't included in the tour price and are paid separately at the gate. Foreign nationals and Indian citizens have different ticket rates. If you'd like, let us know in advance and we can help you arrange tickets so you're not queuing at the counter before sunrise.
Still cameras are included in the entrance fee, but video cameras carry an additional charge payable at the gate. Phones are free to use for photos and videos.
Modest, comfortable clothing is recommended, and mornings can be cool even in warmer months, so a light jacket helps. Comfortable walking shoes are a good idea since there's a fair bit of walking on stone and marble. Small bags are permitted, but large bags, tripods, food, and outside water bottles are typically not allowed inside- we'll guide you on the specifics beforehand.
Sunrise slots are limited since exact timing depends on the season, so booking at least a day or two ahead helps us confirm your pickup time and guide availability. During peak season (October–March), earlier booking is recommended.
You can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours are non-refundable, since guide and transport are already arranged for you. If the Taj Mahal is unexpectedly closed on your travel date (e.g. for security or maintenance reasons), we'll help you reschedule or provide a full refund. For weather-related sunrise visibility (fog is common in winter), the monument itself still opens on schedule, so the tour proceeds as planned.
